Vineyard and elaboration
Quinta da Muradella's idea is making wines that reflect the vineyard, with litlle intervention in the winery.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks from native yeasta and at controlled temperature. After that, wine sits for 6 months on its fine lees. Then it is clarified and traditionally stabilise.
Bodega Quinta da Muradella
Founded in 1991 in the Monterrei region by José Luis Mateo, a dedicated winegrower and one of the key people behind the recovery of Galician wines, who began his career with two vineyards located in Pazos, owned by his father.
In 2000, José Luis contacted the great oenologist Raúl Pérez, and together they began to design and make the different wines in the winery.
Quinta da Muradella has 14 hectares of their own organic vineyards, which are managed seeking the natural balance between plants and the soil. It also owns leased or borrowed land and even buys some grapes from other winegrowers, thus it manages and controls 24 hectares spread over 36 different plots.
