Bodegas Contador

Bodega Contador’s history begins in 1995, when Benjamín Romeo, winemaker and vine-grower,  purchases a  centenarian cave under the castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja). In 1996 he achieves the first vintage of his ‘La Cueva del Contador’ wine and starts buying vineyards for his wine-making project.

This project has been growing little by little util it reached its breaking point with 2004 and 2005 vineyards, when he got the highest score in the 100-point Parker wine-scoring scale (100 points). This unprecedented recognition skyrocketed the brand’s international prestige, and it has not stopped growing since then.
