Placet Valtomelloso White Wine comes from Viura vineyards in the area of Valtomelloso, in La Rioja, and it is a true vindication of the knowledge and tradition of Rioja white wine.

It is pure dynamism, maturity and class. It has an aura of intimate mystery, with hints of white fruits and flowers. An expression of richness, smoothness, refinement and great purity.

It has a straw-coloured appearance and pleasant aromas of white flowers on the nose, along with hints of ripe fruit and sweet spices. On the palate it is balanced, full and has a long aftertaste. It is spicy and toasty.

The serving temperature is between 9 and 12 ºC and it pairs very well with salads, pasta with seafood sauces, white meats, mild cheese and white fish.

Vineyard and elaboration

The vineyard is located in the area of Valtomelloso. It is a long, low-steep slope (10%) on the hillsides of Monte Yerga at 550 metres above sea level.

The grapes are harvested manually, with a careful selection of grapes.

Vinification is based on partial destemming, crushing and pressing. The grape juice ferments with the fine lees in oval wooden foudres at a low temperature. Pre-maceration takes 8 hours and malolactic fermentation is spontaneous.

Winery

The winery was founded in 1948 and is a true reflection of the area's 2000-year-old winemaking culture. The wild and high environment of Monte Yerga, where the first Cistercian monks arrived, is the family origin of this winery, where they have recovered the traditional viticulture of Garnacha variety.
