Vineyard and elaboration
This winery's vineyards are goblet planted and located in Ábalos. They come from different smallholdings differently orientated and the vineyards are several years old: some have been planted since 1920. The soils are clayey and limestone.
Wine harvesting is manual and grapes are selected on a cluster table. They are destemmed and bottled by gravity in stainless steel tanks of 12,000 kilograms. Grapes are pumped over daily and maceration is short, from one to two days. Malolactic fermentation is spontaneous in stainless steel tanks and 15% is done in new barrels.
Bottling is carried out with gentle filtering and without stabilisation.
It is a family winery of centenary tradition, devoted to viticulture and owner of one of the smallest yet best cared projects of the region. Their vineyards spread on 22 hectares. From La Rioja they try to showcase the terroir characteristics in their wines.
