Vineyard and elaboration
Quintaluna is made tahnks to grapes coming from small vines located in some towns of the North of Segovia, most of them having very old vineyards.
Thanks to sandy soils with a high content in codon, phylloxera plague, the one that destoyed vineyards througout Europe in the second half of the 19th century, was avoided.
Harvesting is done manually and after selection grapes, they are destemmed one by one and softle pressed. The resulting juice, of low yield, ferments and ages in small-volume barrels and stainless steel tanks.
Ossian Vides y Vinos winery
Located in Nieva (Segovia) in D.O. Rueda, Ossian was founded in 2005 on between 100 and 200 year-old vines. This winery has 9 hectares of vineyards of Verdejo grape. They have been carrying out an organic certified harvesting for 7 years and vines are not treated with chemical products.
These vineyards' characteristics, together with the uniquqness of their wines, interested the Ruiz Aragoneeses family, owner of Pago de Crroviejas winery, that purchased most of this winery's shares in 2013.
Organic agriculture techniques have as a result that this is the oldest organic vineyard to be registered and certified in D.O. Rueda.
