It is a sausage with a modest origin that dates back to the 18th century, when in view of the scarcity of rice and onions, potatoes were added during slaughter instead. The result was this emblematic sausage, typical of the province of Cáceres.

The ingredients of this true delicacy are a reflection of Extremadura's wealth, since it combines the essence of Extremadura pasture thanks to the meat of its Iberian pigs, the products its land offers, like paprika, tubers and pumpkin, as well as Extra Virgin Olive Oil from our olive trees.

DESCRIPTION

This sausage has been receiving great recognition, especially in recent years, due to its great versatility in the kitchen and its spectacular taste, which has not gone unnoticed among great chefs.

In fact, there is a party held on its behalf every year, known as 'La Pedida de la Patatera'. It is held in the town of Malpartida de Cáceres, located in the province of Cáceres.

This popular festival has been Regional Tourist Interest since 2016. This tradition was recovered in 1985 yet its beginnings can be traced back to the end of the 19th century.

At that time, before the arrival of Lent, Ash Wednesday and the prohibition of meat eating, conscripts went around the streets asking for food and they were usually given this sausage by their neighbours.

How to use

Recomendamos utilizar nuestra Morcilla Ibérica Patatera Picante con Aceite de Oliva Virgen Extra untada sobre las Rustic Regañás with Extra Virgin Olive Oil, también con un toque de Thyme Honey, o simplemente en rodajas, asada o frita.

Otra opción es utilizar un poco de la misma en la masa de las croquetas, de las tortillas de patatas o de las empanadas.
