Vineyard and elaboration
Three main types of soil coexist on the estate: sandy, clayey and stony-clay. The plots with gentle to steep slopes (up to 12%) are located between 235 and 355 metres above sea level.
All the vines on the estate are trained on trellises. Planting density is low and the rows face north-south, which gives them perfect illumination on both sides, both on the leaves and on the bunches.
The vineyard is equipped with a drip irrigation system. A precise knowledge of the vineyard's water requirements is essential for good irrigation management.
All the work carried out in the vineyard is done manually, from budding to harvesting. The aim is to achieve the best balance between the development of the leaves and shoots on the one hand, and the development of the bunches on the other.
Regarding fertilisation, they are constantly searching for the best possible balance for growing and developing the vines, with the sole objective of producing high quality grapes.
Winery
The Marqués de Valdueza winery was born as a continuation of the activity of the Álvarez de Toledo family, which has been closely linked to the countryside for centuries. The estate is Perales de Valdueza, located near the city of Mérida, in Extremadura.
