Vineyard and elaboration
The vineyards, between 25 and 80 years old, are spread over 13.55 hectares where the soil is poor and rocky and is made up of sandstone and marl of tertiary origin.
Grapes were manually harvested and transported to the winery in boxes, then destemmed and macerated. Fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts and malolactic.
The wine ages for 14 months in oak barrels of different sizes.
La Granja de Remelluri Winery
Located in one of the oldest vine-growing estates in our country, these wineries can be found in what used to be the sanctuary of Toloño in Labastida, where decades ago the monks cultivated cereals and vineyards.
It was in 1967 when Jaime Rodríguez and Amaya Hernandorena purchased some of these lands, and years later Telmo Rodríguez took control of them. This meant the reincorporation of the biodynamic practices of past centuries and with them, the recovery of the authentic Remelluri identity.
La Granja de Remelluri has 154 hectares of which 80 are vineyards. The vineyard comprises 200 plots of an average of 0.6 hectares each. Holm oak forests are close to the first vineyards, which favours a gentle and late ripening of the grapes.
