Vineyard and elaboration
These vineyards are located on granitic and sandy soils and are between 40 and 60 years old. The Atlantic climate of these Galician lands, characterised by frequent rainfall and mild temperatures, allows the Albariño grapevines to obtain the optimal level of humidity to develop.
Grapes are harvested manually and the grape juice ferments in stainless steel tanks (60%) and foudre (40%). Once fermentation is complete, the wine is left to sit on its fine lees until it reaches the desired texture and aroma.
Before bottling, the wine is lightly filtered.
Forjas del Salnés Winery
Forjas del Salnés was born to fulfil a family dream shared by up to three different generations. This winery was founded in 2005 but its history has been passed down from generation to generation.
Its oldest vineyard was planted by the great-grandfather of the current winery owner in 1912. This first generation was followed by Mr. Francisco Méndez Laredo, who was part of the management team that founded the D.O. Rías Baixas.
Together with his father and grandfather's desire to produce wines from the estates they had planted years before, the current owners of the winery, José Manuel Méndez Lázaro and Rodrigo Méndez Arosa, joined in to form part of this history and made this idea possible by creating this winery.
Forjas del Salnés owns around 4 hectares of vineyards and 3 hectares of rented vineyards which are spread over several plots located in different parts of the towns of Meaño, Sanxenxo, Cambados and Barro.
