Vineyard and elaboration
The estate is located at 900 metres above sea level on cool, well-drained soils. They are mountain plots planted in the 30s and 40s on granitic sandy soils using organic and biodynamic dry-farmed viticulture.
The grapes are harvested manually. Whole bunches are pressed and vatted until fermentation starts naturally with the grape's own yeasts for three weeks. After that, the wine ages for 6 months in used French oak 300-litre and 500-litre barrels. 30% of the wine was made without sulphites and underwent malolactic fermentation, making the wine creamier.
Winery
Las Moradas winery, surrounded by centenary Garnacha vineyards, has simple and practical facilities, with production capacity of 80,000 bottles per vintage, although production is currently lower.
It is an environmentally friendly winery where all by-products are reused. Lees, pomace and wash water are sent to the distillery. Likewise, the stalks are used together with goat manure from neighbouring farms to make compost to be used as fertiliser in the vineyard.
