La Zarcita is one of the star wines of Palacio Quemado, the Extremaduran winery founded by Alvear, the historic winery from Montilla known for its extraordinary Pedro Ximénez wines, together with the Losada Serra family.

This wine is characterised by its cherry red colour. On the nose it is floral and intensely balsamic with aromas of scrubland, plums and fine toasted tones. It releases noble and clear perfectly balanced woody and fruity aromas.

On the palate it is juicy, with wild acidity and well-smoothed tannins, and an herbaceous and spicy aftertaste. It slowly leads to a fresh and very long aftertaste, characterised by warm woody notes. Recommended serving temperature is between 14º and 16ºC.

It pairs very well with cured cheeses, roasted vegetables and meat rice dishes.

Vineyard and elaboration

Palacio Quemado is located in Extremadura, in the middle of a 4,000 hectare estate with over 100 vineyards of different varieties, very well adapted to the soil and the area's conditions. This region's climate, softened because of its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, in addition to its diverse soils, makes it possible for the vines to grow in ideal conditions to achieve a unique quality.

On the estate, each vineyard plot is individually farmed, depending on the orientation and type of soils.
There is minimal intervention in the winery and the grapes are carefully harvested, entering both in the winery and in the tank almost uncrushed, avoiding breakage, to preserve the personality of each plot (of each variety) as well as the vintage's character.

Winery

It was founded in 1999 by the union of Alvear wineries and the Losada Serra family. It is located in the town of Alange, in the region of Tierra de Barros, in Badajoz, Extremadura.
