This is a red wine made with 100% Tintilla de Rota grapes, elaborated in Puerto de Santa María by Forlong winery. This was a particular vintage, as there was a very Atlantic and fresh climate that resulted in a Tintilla de Rota with less alcohol and lighter in colour. This is the reason why this winery chose clay-amphorae ageing so as to benefit from this variety's freshness and primary aroma.

It has a light cherry colour. On the nose, violet and white flower sensations can be appreciated, as well as acid red fruit (redcurrants) and bay. Black pepper and cayenne can also be smelled.

It is very fresh on the palate, with a pronounce taste and albariza's characteristic salinity.

The recommended service temperature is between 14º and 16ºC. Sediments may be found.

Vineyard and elaboration

The vineyard is organic, 100% Tintilla de Rota is planted on the albariza type of soil. Wine harvesting is handmade.

Fermentation is carred out after destemming grapes. Prior to fermentation, a cold maceration is done in clay jars. Fermentation with native yeasts, stirring and malolactic fermentation are carried out in the same jars.

Ageing happens in clay amphorae for 12 months. No further treatment is given when bottling.

Winery

Forlong, artisan and organic winery, started out in 2007 when 'El olivar de Forlón' estate was purchased, getting back the old vineyard, olive grove and fruit tree plantation lost through the years. The final 'g' that was part of the surname of the former owner, the Brittish Peter Forlong, was also recovered, bringing Forlong back to life, a dream had 'for a long time' that finally came true.
