Vineyard and elaboration
Since 2002, Barbadillo has been committed to the recovery of Tintilla de Rota variety in order to include it in different wines featuring this varietal.
This variety is native to Cádiz and of small production, its cultivation has been kept residual in the few small vineyards in the town of Rota. The soil in which it grows its vineyards is made up of top quality albariza with a high moisture retention capacity.
The climate in which the vines grow is Atlantic-Mediterranean, with mild winters and very hot summers. The combination of easterly and westerly winds ensures that the grapes ripe properly.
The fermentation process takes place in stainless steel tanks and the wine is bottled without prior filtering.
Barbadillo winery
Barbadillo history dates back to 1821, when they started to make Manzanilla, but it was not until 1954 when the company was created. From its begginings, Barbadillo has not stopped evolving, always looking for a way to make surprising and long-lasting wines.
It has 500 hectares of owned vineyards, 17 ageing wineries i Sanlúcar de Brrameda and a vinification plant, so it is one of the biggest and more important wineries in the Sherry Triangle.
